AFC Hearts of San Francisco Joins the National Soccer League
San Francisco, CA July 1, 2020 — The AFC Hearts of San Francisco, an American Soccer Club that competes in the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL), will be competing in the National Soccer League (NSL)for the first time this Fall 2020. The Hearts made the playoffs in their first two seasons in the UPSL’s Premier Division, and the club was second runner up in the 2018 CSAN Junior State Cup.
“We’re excited to have a presence in the National Soccer League, a true club first league. Playing in the National Soccer League will increase our brand exposure, and the NSL will give additional players the opportunity to try-out for our fall 2020 clubs.” Maurice Johnson, Club President
The NSL formed in 2000. After significant expansion in 2007 and 2015, the league has finally gone coast to coast with the Pacific Conference's announcement earlier this year. There are 70+ teams spread across Texas, Indiana, North Carolina, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio, Florida, Arizona, Maryland, Kansas, and California. The NSL is affiliated with USSF and is a National formed under USSSA.
The NSL has a "Club First" truth that starts with a meager annual fee of approximately 30% to 40% of the other US national leagues. The NSL provides official banner, patches, game balls, and twenty-two player registrations in the annual dues.
